The Giclées Printing Process
Every giclée that is available from this site has been carefully reproduced from the original artwork. In some cases, the owners have generously loaned their paintings to Judith Sussman. In others, the original is still in Judith's collection.
The creation process starts with a high-quality scan of the original in a controlled environment. Room lighting is customized to the materials that were used to create the art so that the digital file provides the best reproduction possible.
After the artwork is scanned, the real work begins. Using calibrated monitors and an artist's eye, the digital version is color-corrected to display the same quality of tone and color as the original. All of the preview images displayed on this site are created by starting with the final digital file and scaling it for display on the web.
Our printing company has created custom ink and paper profiles to make sure that the printed versions match the digital and original versions as closely as possible. Nothing is finalized until Judith Sussman gives her approval.
Rather than create an inventory of pieces, we do not actually print any giclées until after they are ordered. Every piece is printed on high-quality materials using professional quality equipment and inks.
Through this complex and accurate process, you are assured of receiving giclées that are true to Arthur Sussman's original work. He wouldn't have it any other way and neither would we.
